Whistler é uma cidade turistica, localizada ha 124 km de Vancouver, no lado oeste do Canada.

Esta cidade é muito movimentada pelo turismo. Passoas de todo o continente aquecem a economia local e graças à eles muitos empregos são gerados. No inverno, pessoas de todo o mundo deixam suas casas em busca de um dos melhores lugares do mundo para praticarem o snow board, o ski e até mesmo o sitting ski que será abordado em outro post. São mais de 30 lifts e inúmeras montanhas para a pratica de esportes de inverno. O lugar é palco das olimpíadas de inverno de 2010, o que mostra seu potencial.

No verão não é muito diferente. Para os bikers, a Disney não fica em Orlando nos USA e sim em Whistler no Canada. São cerca de 200 km de muita adrenalina, divididos em inúmeras trilhas.

Whistler is a tourist town, located about 124 km from Vancouver, on the west side of Canada.

The city is very busy with tourism. People from all over the world heats the local economy.

In the witer time people leave their house to searsh one of the best place in the world to pratice snow board the ski and even sitting ski, but that will be addressed in another post. There are over 30 lifts and several mountais to pratice winter sports. The place is stage of the winter olympics of 2010, which shows Whistler`s potential.

The summer is not very different. For bikers, Disney is not in Orlando in USA but in Whistler in Canada. There are 200km of adrenaline, divided into numerous trails.

O maior evento do verão é o Crankworx, que também acontece no Colorado. São quase uma semana de competições nas modalidades, Downhill, Four cross e Slopestyle.

Grandes marcas como a Volks Wagen por exemplo estão envolvidas com o evento, percebe-se que a mídia esportiva é muito valorizada por lá. Por isso há muitos atletas profissionais, que dedicam seu tempo integral para o treinamento.

2010 será a 7 edição do evento e a maioria dos patrocinadores permanecem desde a primeira edição. Sinal que acreditar na mídia esportiva e inovadora é um bom negócio. Não é?

No Brasil só ha espaço para futebol.

The biggest event of the summer is Crankworx, which also happens in Colorado. There are almost one week of races in the modalities, downhill, four cross and slopestyle.

Major brands such as Volks Wagen for example are involved with this event, we see that sports media highly valued there. So many professional athletes, who dedicate their full time training.

2010 is the 7th edition of the event and most sponsors have been around since the first edition. Signal to belive in the sports media and inovative is a good deal. Dont you think?

Here in Brazil they just care about soccer.

E não é só o Mountain Bike que movimenta a cidade no verão.
Para aqueles que não gostam de bike, há inúmeros passeios pelas montanhas, como por exemplo para ver os ursos, hiking pelas montanhas, passeios pelos lagos e visita ao topo da montanha.

For those who dont like to ride, there are many trails for in the mountains, for example to see bears, hiking throught the mountains and lake and visits the top of the mountains.

Em julho de 2007 fui em busca de um sonho. Whistler, realmente é um lugar fascinante que eu poderia passar o resto de minha vida sem reclamar.
É uma cidade pequena em que se pode fazer tudo caminhando ou de bike, entretanto tem todo o conforto de uma cidade grande.

This is me.

In july 2007 I went in searsh of a dream. Whistler really is a fascinating that I could spent the rest os my life without complan.

It is a small town where everything can be done walking or biking, however has all the conforts of a big city.

No inverno as coisas ficam mais caras por lá e a saida que encontrei para economizar uma grana foi morar em Vancouver.

In the winter, things get more expensive over there and I went to live in Vancouver to save some money.

Esta foto é no Garbanzo, que é uma trilha que vai do topo da montanha até a base. São cerca de 15 minutos despencando morro abaixo de mão colada.

In the intervals between one work and another it was time for funn. This photo is in the Garbanzo, which is a trail that goes from the top of the mountain to the base. There are about 15 minutes of tumbling down the hill at full gas.

Boneyard é onde acontece o Slopestyle e o vencedor deste evento leva 15 mil dolares para casa.

The Slopestyle take a place at Boneyard and the winner of this event takes 15 thousand dollars for home.

Detalhe para a infraestrutura do bike park que é muito boa.

A bike sobe em um lift projetado especialmente para ela e logo atrás os pilotos sobem no conforto total.

The infrastructure of the bike park is very good. The bike goes up in a lift specially designed for her and just behind the riders go up in total comfort.

Outro lugar muito bom para treinar é o Air dome que tem alguns obstáculos de street e uma pscina de espuma para o aprimoramento das manobras.

Para finalizar, outro detalhe muito importante, no bike park há trilhas de todos os níveis, assim aquela pessoa que tem uma noção de bike pode se divertir também. Ví muitas famílias com crianças andando pelas trilhas.

Another very good place to pratice is the Air Dome which has some street obstacles and a foam pit for the improvement of the skills. Finally, another important detail, the bike park there are trails for all levels, so that person who has a notion of bike can be fun too. I saw many families with children riding the trails.
